1.14 DAF update to Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now live

The latest update to Euro Truck Simulator 2, featuring the DAF XF Euro 6 and other features such as liftable axles, has released on Steam today.

SCS Software have released some fancy new screenshots of the newly added DAF XF Euro 6, and have said that they cheated a little, using the new lighting system from the upcoming Scandinavian update.

They have said that they are working on "new light and skies," which is a future update to the game, focusing on the day/night cycle in the game.

The 1.14 update to the game also fixes a number of different things and adds a new feature in the form of liftable axles. Here is the main changelog, as well as other smaller changelogs:

Gameplay

  • Liftable axles
  • Increased damage for overturned vehicles
  • Tweaked penalties for damaged cargo
  • Automatic transmission tweaked to better handle steep hills (such as the quarry)
  • Camera rotation based on steering and blinkers
  • Correct speed limit after using the train
  • Red light offense isn't reported if the player is too far inside a crossroad
  • More lenient wrong-way offense check to allow maneuvering in small crossroads
  • Better terrain profile interpolation
  • Many improvements in simulation: overturned trucks, damping of rear axles, gearbox

User interface

  • Updated localization and credits, fixed typos, clarified texts
  • Truck browser shows all upgrades and their level requirements
  • Added option to skip cutscenes
  • Speed limit shown on dashboard GPS
  • Support for adviser page switching
  • Speed on adviser is more precise
  • Option to display the password on the login screen
  • Smoother camera movement in showrooms
  • Improved text pasting into input fields
  • Improved city name sorting

  • New truck: DAF XF Euro 6
  • New 6-wheeled chassis for (almost) all trucks

Steam and online services

  • Steam Rich Presence: job information in "View Game Info" in the Steam friends list
  • Screenshot images contain additional metadata (game state, vehicle, camera)
  • Upload your World of Trucks profile truck from the in-game Screenshot Manager
  • Using the current Steam nickname for new profiles by default
  • Garage achievements ignore garages from unavailable cities (as the result of map mod removal)

Rendering

  • Fixed blinking objects in mirrors

I will have to check out the liftable axles and the new truck at some point, they certainly look interesting.
