Bethesda unveil Doom beta, previously known as Doom 4

Well, it looks like Doom 4 exists, but it has been renamed to simply Doom now. The latest news shows that Bethesda has unveiled that the Doom beta will be available to those of you that pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order.

There is no information yet on when it will be or what platform it will be - other than that you will need to be 18+ to get into the beta.

Bethesda has said that the earlier version of Doom 4 has been scrapped and that you can find out more information on the website.

Pete Hines said that the original version "did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver."

As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we're ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know.

Wolfenstein: The New Order will be releasing on PC May 20th.
