Build barricades and grow your own crops in latest DayZ update

The latest version of DayZ has arrived with a wealth of new mechanics being added as the game moves onto stable branch 0.50.125369.

Noticeable changes and improvements are the ability to build barricades (locking doors, persistent) and growing your own crops in greenhouses.

There are also new towns, villages and locations being added as well as a load of new items.

New Items:

New Mechanics:

  • You can search for feathers in chicken coops

Known Issues:

  • Items do not update their state properly (durability/wet). Moving them, or relogging will refresh.
  • Server crash
  • Performance deteroriation

So like I said, a pretty massive changelog for the new update. Interesting to see that they are starting work on barricading with door locks though, wasn't expecting to see that.

There is also word out that they have finished re-writing vehicle handling, physics etc. from scratch and have a working vehicle. They are looking to push this out to the public as soon as they can.
