DayZ has hit yet another sales milestone today as it was announced by Bohemia Interactive that the game had surpassed the 3 million sales mark. The game is still in Early Access development and isn't expected to be fully completed for at least another year.

The game first released on Early Access in December 2013 and sold 1 million copies within the first four weeks, since then it reached 2 million in May last year. Bohemia released a development road map for the game towards the end of last year.

David Durcak, who is the project lead of DayZ, made the following comments:

We would like to say thank you to every single one of the three million players, that have joined us on the journey of making DayZ. You all have helped make DayZ the best open world, zombie survival game. This is an amazing achievement, and we are really looking forward to start sharing with you all of our game design improvements, anti-hack solutions and other optimizations we have been working on for a majority of the last year.

I wonder how many copies the game will have sold by the time it moves out of Early Access and into a full release? Will the release of games such as H1Z1 have an impact on sales? Probably not, but who knows.

Cheers, GameSpot
