Those of you that have been playing Minecraft need to change your account details immediately as 1,800 account details have leaked onto the internet, including your passwords in plain text. It is also recommended that you change the password of any accounts using similar details to that of your Mojang account.

German outlet Heise first broke the news and it has now been confirmed by Mojang that the details have indeed been stolen. Mojang have stated that yes the account information has been leaked online but there was no hack involved to get to it. It was through other means such as phishing.

Even though it was only 1,800 accounts out of what is probably millions, it is recommended that you go and change your passwords anyway, just to be on the safe side of things.
